The urns are designed to decompose in natural environments such as the soil under the influence of moisture and microorganisms. This process can take several months to years. In dry environments, such as at home, the urn retains its shape and can be kept as a memento for many years.
Yes, our urns can be customized. We offer laser engraving to emboss names, dates or symbols on the lid, making the urn a unique keepsake.
The size depends on the body weight of the deceased before cremation. As a guide, a volume of approximately 30 cubic centimeters (0.03 liters) is required per kilogram of body weight. For a person weighing 70 kg, this corresponds to a volume of approx. 2.1 liters. We will be happy to help you choose the right size.
Farvel urns are shipped in sturdy product packaging and a shipping box to protect them from damage. We work with experienced shipping service providers to ensure that the urn arrives safely to you or directly to the funeral home.
As a rule, we will hand over the ordered urn securely packaged to our shipping service provider within 24 hours. You will receive a tracking number as soon as the order is on its way. Depending on the delivery area within Switzerland, a further 1-2 working days may be required for shipping.
If you are ordering from another country such as Switzerland or the order is urgent, please let us know in person or via your funeral home. We will find a quick and safe solution for you.
Yes, of course. Delivery abroad is possible without any problems. Please note: Experience has shown that customs clearance can cause the package to take a little longer to arrive. Delivery within Europe usually takes 4-5 working days. If you have any specific questions, please send us a message or give us a call.

Yes, our urns are officially approved for forest burials in FriedWald in Germany. Since the ash capsule does not fit through the urn opening, an ash bag is required. In addition, only the walnut wood lid is permitted. Oak and marble lids may not be used.
To ensure that the urn can be lowered gently and in a controlled manner during the funeral, the lowering cord is attached directly to the bottom of the urn and wrapped around it. Ideally, the urn has a small recess in its cork base through which the cord can be threaded.
If you order an urn with a lowering cord, this recess is already included—so you don't have to worry about anything else. After the ceremony, the cork base can be easily removed so that the urn can stand upright on the floor.

All Farvel urns can be used for burial. Our material is robust and burial in the pouring rain is no problem for our Farvel urn. However, if you want to place the urn in a long-term outdoor urn niche or columbarium, the urn may change over time. If you are looking for a weatherproof model, you can contact us and we will try to find an individual solution.
If you are not satisfied with your choice, please contact us within 14 days of receiving the urn. Please note that personalized urns cannot be exchanged.
Each of our urns is made with love and care. As the production process requires both modern technology and skilled craftsmanship, a closer look may reveal minimal deviations such as fine irregularities. However, these characteristics are part of the uniqueness of each urn and do not affect its stability or aesthetic appeal.
Yes, we offer a satisfaction guarantee on all our urns. If there are any defects, we will work together to find a solution, be it a replacement or a return.

- If necessary, you can wipe the urn with a soft, dry cloth.
Yes, we can deliver your urn directly to a funeral home or crematorium. Please provide the delivery address of the funeral home or crematorium during the ordering process and inform the funeral home about the delivery.
Yes, if the chosen funeral home does not yet offer Farvel urns, you can simply ask for them. We will then be contacted and take care of everything else.
We collaborate with the St. Jakob Foundation in the area of lid production and with the Heimstätten Wil Foundation for the production of ash bags.
